The moment I parked the car in the first parking lot, a shuttle bus slid in as if sensing our movement. My family had already been dropped off at the front desk, so I was the only passenger. Still, without making me wait for departure, they smoothly sent me to the front desk.
Exposed to the cold wind of Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan in February, this small but decisive hospitality of "not having to wait" made me foresee the quality of this trip.
"Fusaki Beach Resort Hotel & Villas", located along the coast in the southwestern part of Ishigaki Island, is a resort hotel boasting one of the largest areas on the island.
The scenery lined with red-tiled cottages is like wandering into a village in Okinawa. You can experience the whole island time with facilities such as the natural white sand beach "Fusaki Beach", the sunset famous spot "Angel Pier" protruding into the sea, and the island's largest kids pool "Splash Park" on the premises.
Especially, it is known as a sanctuary for family trips to Okinawa because it is certified as a "Welcome Baby Inn" and has a support system endorsed by MIKI HOUSE Childrearing Research Institute. At night, you can also enjoy adult time with beach & poolside bars and tropical resort-like light-ups.
Recommendations by age, pool usability, room safety, etc. Thorough comparison by a resident dad. The definitive version of hotel selection you won't regret.
To parents who say "I don't want to get tired paying a lot of money". Exposing room selection, parking traps, and pool measures to make it the strongest family shelter.
We arrived just after 15:00. I thought it would be the peak time for check-in, but there was no waiting time and the procedure was completed in about 5 minutes.
Moving to the room was also smooth. Transfer by cart from the front desk to the accommodation building is also possible, and waiting here was only 5 minutes. It was unrelated to the hardship of carrying heavy luggage with a baby and toddler, and I was able to save physical strength from the beginning of the trip.
We stayed at the "Standard Villa" this time. The reason why I most recommend it for families, especially during the crawling and toddling period, is the "structure of the entrance".
The entrance is clearly divided into an earthen floor (entrance space) and a living space (flooring). Since a space strictly prohibiting shoes is secured, it is hygienic even if children crawl on the floor. Stress for parents is drastically reduced because they can spend time with the same feeling as at home.
In addition to the wall-side arrangement of the bed, bed guards are also installed. Without worrying about the risk of falling during sleep, both parents and children were able to fall asleep with peace of mind.
I thought the villa type was "far from the front desk and each facility", but actually I didn't feel any inconvenience at all.
Since there is no need to walk with heavy luggage, you can purely enjoy the vast grounds as a "walking course".
Ishigaki Island in February. The outdoor pool is cold and just for viewing, but the indoor pool is comfortably managed in both water temperature and room temperature, so you can enjoy it regardless of the season.
The kids' area of the indoor pool is divided by fences into areas with water depths of 30cm and 60cm respectively. It is structured to prevent accidents where children accidentally go to the deep side, so parents could watch over with peace of mind.
There are many benches where you can put your luggage on the poolside, but using the changing room requires a little knack.
The changing room is equipped with a simple dehydrator, and it was very helpful to be able to lighten the swimsuit and take it home. Note that towels are lent out at the pool and bath, so there is no need to bring them from the room.
The large public bath is equipped with baby baths, baby chairs, and whole-body soap for babies, so you can use it without hesitation even with a baby. The main bathtub has a shallow area with a water depth of about 20cm, about the size of 4 tatami mats, which was ideal for bathing with small children.
One point, caution is required for the open-air bath in winter. I used it on a day when the outside temperature was around 18°C, but the water was lukewarm, and I felt my body temperature being taken away while entering. Since there is nothing to display the water temperature in the entire bathhouse, the exact temperature is unknown, but it seems to be about 40°C for the indoor bath and about 36-7°C or less for the outdoor bath.
Other users around were also shivering and evacuating to the indoor bath, and it is a harsh environment unless you warm your body to the core in the sauna. In winter, it would be safe to enjoy mainly the indoor bath. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to it. It is extremely disappointing that even the open-air bath, which should be comfortable the colder it gets, became a place where you cannot stay because it is cold, while the tropical feeling is ruined by the cold weather, so I expect improvement in the future. I think it would be nice in summer or on warm days.
I went around 7:30 in the morning, but I didn't feel crowded because the venue is large. Noteworthy is the zoning of seats.
The area we were guided to was full of families with small children including us. Since they guide couples and adult-only groups to separate seats, there was an atmosphere of mutual understanding even if children made some noise, and we could eat without worrying too much about the surroundings.
When I checked with the chef about the omelet made in front of me, he said, "Only butter and eggs are used." Since it is a style where you season it yourself later, if the allergy check for eggs and dairy products is completed, you can safely feed it freshly made even to children in the weaning period.
The selection of the shop "TERRACE SHOP" was truly an "ally of families". Even if you forget diapers etc., you can manage somehow.
It is very convenient to be able to buy small packs at a price slightly higher than the market price. However, please note that S size, tape type, and other manufacturers were not handled. Baby food from Wakodo (from 7 months) was also sold.
I checked the price of Okimurasaki Beniimo Tart, a representative Ishigaki Island souvenir, at the souvenir shop in the building (RESORT SHOP & MARKET), and it was the same price including tax as the supermarket on the same day (MaxValu Yaima store). From this, I think it is unlikely that buying souvenirs in the hotel will be expensive.
Although it is a little old, there are enough units and I could use it without waiting. Safe for long stays. There is also a microwave here, so I could use it without hesitation.
This time, we stayed for only one night, but as a conclusion, I felt **"one night is completely unsatisfactory"**.
The staff's response was quick and wonderful with a smile, and the comfort of the villa was the best. However, to fully enjoy the vast grounds such as indoor pool, outdoor pool, beach, walking, cafe, bar, shopping and activities, and to secure time for parents to relax, a "middle day" that does not end with a travel day is necessary.
Especially on sunny days or in the middle of summer, I strongly recommend staying for at least 2 nights. My family would like to come for 2 nights next summer.
