Located on the west side of Yarabu Peninsula, west of Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan, this is an untouched natural beach. Because large-scale resort development has not reached here, it is a hidden spot not treated largely in tourist guides, but its high transparency, diverse creatures seen, coral reefs, and beautiful scenery are top class on the island.
It is a place loved by such people.
What spreads out in front of you is just the blue sea and the untouched sandy beach. "Osaki Beach (Commonly known as: Tachii Beach)" located on the west side of Ishigaki Island is in a place slightly away from the wave of resort development. No one disturbs you, just looking at the sea and touching it. It is such a place.
There are no toilets or water supply, and the signal becomes a little weak. That is rather comfortable. There is an environment here where you can immerse yourself only in the scenery in front of you without being rushed by notification sounds.
One is naturally drinking water, and there are no toilets, showers, or changing rooms on this beach. If you enjoy swimming, the basic style is to bring fresh water in a 2-liter plastic bottle or poly tank. This is the second water. When you get out of the sea, bathe in that water and wash off the salt. It is suitable for people who can enjoy even such inconvenience as a wild experience.
Access requires a little caution. Please be sure to enter "Osaki Beach" in Google Maps. You can reach the parking lot (for 5-6 cars) without problems on a paved road.
What you should absolutely avoid is the route via "Denshinya (Telegraph House Ruins)". It might appear depending on the case. It looks close on the map, but unless it is an off-road vehicle with high vehicle height, a bad road that rubs the bottom continues. It only scratches the car and has no merit.
For a while from the beach, the shallow sandy area continues, so there is no worry of stepping on coral even if the tide is low, and it is ideal for playing in the water.
However, if you go, go up to around the gathering of diving boats visible offshore. That area is the beginning of a full-scale coral cluster, and it becomes the shallowest shoal where boats can be attached. From snorkeling, the water depth suddenly becomes deep from around there. And since there is boat traffic and it is dangerous, never go out further than the boat. If you go, go up to around the boat closest to the beach. If you want to see coral, the water is clean if you aim for high tide, but at low tide, there is also an advantage that you can walk close to the point.
In contrast to the quiet beach, actually, this sea is surprisingly lively.
Many ships anchored offshore prove that this is one of the best diving points in Ishigaki Island.
The sea of Osaki area is a place called "Iron Plate" among divers.
Noteworthy is the high encounter rate with sea turtles. It is no exaggeration to say that you can almost certainly meet turtles eating or resting in the shade of rocks. The water depth is relatively shallow, and there are many points where the flow is gentle, so even beginners can dive relaxed.
It is a waste just to look from the beach from a distance. The forest of coral spreading in the deep blue that cannot be reached by snorkeling, and the figure of sea turtles swimming leisurely. That emotion can only be obtained by carrying a tank and staying underwater.
If you want to know the true appearance of this place, please get on a diving boat and dive into the sea. Prepare your mind on the quiet beach and touch the brilliance of life in the sea. That contrast should make the experience at Osaki deeper.
