📍 Kabira / Yoshihara Area
"Yonehara Beach and Sukuji Beach are famous and nice, but are there any hidden spots with fewer people where I can relax?"
To you who have such a luxurious worry, I want to secretly tell you about "Yoshihara Beach".
Located right next to Kabira Bay, this beach is actually a hidden gem where you can enjoy a relaxing private beach feeling, with a superb view that has become a standard spot for wedding photos. However, there are dangerous points that can be life-threatening if you make a wrong step. This time, I will deliver real information unique to residents, such as "swimming range" and "risks of rip currents and Habu jellyfish" that are not listed in guidebooks.

1. Silent Long Beach "Yoshihara Beach" Spreading Next to Kabira Bay
The charm of Yoshihara Beach is that it is surprisingly quiet while being very close to Kabira Bay crowded with tourists.
- Access and Parking: Even though it is a hidden spot, it is a nice point that there is a proper parking lot.
- Beach Features: A vast scenery with a sandy beach continuing to the east spreads out. Pale purple beach morning glories bloom on the sandy beach, and the contrast with the blue sea is a beauty of "This is Okinawa!".

2. [Rip Current Danger] East Side is Absolutely Prohibited! Swim to the "West (Left)"
⚠️ This is the most important point
Yoshihara Beach has places that are extremely dangerous if you enter without knowing.
- Trap of Rip Current: Strong rip currents occur towards the offshore around the place about 360m to the east (right) from the parking lot entrance. Never approach here.
- Safe Swimming Area: If you swim and play, limit yourself to the range from right in front of the parking lot entrance to the left (west) side where it is shallow and close to the beach.
Pro Advice: It is important to play while being aware of the terrain like the image below. Since it is not a managed beach, self-responsibility is basic.
3. What's Under the Sea? Transparency and Snorkeling Situation
I, a former instructor, will review honestly.
- Outstanding Transparency: The water cleanness is perfect. The whiteness of the sandy area stands out.
- Coral and Fish: To be honest, it is not like Yonehara Beach where "Forest of coral as soon as you enter!". The foreground is a beautiful sandy area, and coral is scattered modestly if you swim a little.
- Correct Way to Enjoy: Rather than snorkeling to look for fish heavily, I think the correct answer for this beach is to float and be healed in the transparent sea or play at the water's edge.

4. Habu Jellyfish and Exposure Measures
- Beware of Habu Jellyfish Stagnation: Especially in places where rocks protrude to the left, the flow tends to stagnate, and Habu jellyfish tend to accumulate in summer.
- Suppress Skin Exposure: Habu jellyfish in summer are a risk anywhere on natural beaches without nets. Entering with just a swimsuit is not recommended.
- Local Recommendation: "If you get stung, the trip is ruined". Be sure to wear a rash guard or trenca for water play and play with minimal skin exposure.
5. Secret of "Instagrammable" Chosen for Wedding Photos
Walking on Yoshihara Beach, I often encounter wedding photo shooting scenes.
- Unnecessary Things are Not Captured: Because there are few people, you can take pictures monopolizing the blue sea continuing to the horizon and the white sandy beach.
- Diverse Scenery: You can see the dashing figure of windsurfers, or locals walking their dogs. It is a place where "island daily life" and "superb view" coexist without being turned into a tourist resort.
6. Advice from Residents: Be Careful Here!
1. Check the Tide Level
Since it is shallow for a long distance, the water recedes considerably at low tide. If you swim, it is best to aim for the time around high tide.
2. Protect Yourself by Yourself
There are no lifeguards or showers here. Be careful of rip currents and Habu jellyfish, do not swim too far, and play with safety as the top priority.
Even if you don't enter the sea, just sitting on the sandy beach where beach morning glories bloom and looking at the sea while listening to the sound of the wind, you should be able to fully feel the value of coming to Ishigaki Island.
