1. 5 Reasons Why Ishigaki Island Windsurfing is "Super Hot"
The sea of Ishigaki Island cannot be dismissed simply by the word "beautiful". There are overwhelming conditions where common sense of the mainland does not apply.
- ① Overwhelmingly Beautiful "Clear Blue" World
In many spots on the mainland, if you go a little offshore, it immediately becomes deep and you cannot see the bottom. However, Ishigaki Island is mainly inner reef (inside the reef) where you can see the coral on the bottom even hundreds of meters away from the beach. Colorful tropical fish and turtles may cross your feet during full planing. The feeling that the superb view and pleasure continue forever is, to put it mildly, the best.
- ② Sea Surface is "Flat" Even in Strong Winds
Basically, the reef 300-500m ahead of the beach blocks the swell of the open sea, so the inner reef always maintains a flat sea surface. Even on a somewhat gusty day, the water surface is smooth so it is difficult to stall, and you can connect as it is. It is an environment where you can concentrate purely on "running" from beginners to veterans.
- ③ Everlasting Summer Season Where "Hands Don't Freeze" Even in Winter
When the mainland is in the extreme cold season wrapped in dry suits, Ishigaki Island welcomes the best season. Even in winter, it is 16-18°C during the day, and warmer on warm days. Even on windy days, at least 15°C is kept, so you can ride vigorously with a feeling like early spring. While SUP and kayaking are canceled due to strong winds and people look disappointed, we happily set up sails and go out to sea.
- ④ There is a "Best Point" for Any Wind Direction in 360 Degrees
Ishigaki Island is compact. If you drive for an hour, you can go to the other side of the island. The mobility to choose the best side or cross-on wind direction of the day, whether it is north wind or south wind, is a privilege unique to the environment of an island.
- ⑤ Friendly Sailor Community, Not Hostile
Windsurfing unrelated to "scramble for waves". In Ishigaki Island, the whole island is a home spot. The same members gather on days when the wind is good, but everyone teaches each other, and when the wind stops, we "Yuntaku (chat)" on the beach. There is no hostile atmosphere, and everyone is smiling. It is the best to enjoy at your own pace loosely in the heartwarming "Paikaji (South Wind)".

3. One Word of Advice: Be Careful Here
⚠️ There are no rental shops on Ishigaki Island main island
Sad but true. No matter how much you search, rental information does not come out. Because it doesn't exist.
The only places that lend windsurfing equipment in Ishigaki Island are "Club Med" or "T&T" which offer trial lessons. Even if you come to the beach empty-handed, you cannot ride. If you want to do it seriously, rental at Kohama Island is realistic.

⚠️ Timing to Meet Sailors
If you are looking for windsurfing, please aim for "2 hours before and after high tide on days when it is not raining".
You cannot ride at low tide because the fin sticks into the coral or sand, and no one is there on days when the wind is weak.
If you see a sail on the beach, it is definitely a resident sailor. If you demonstrate your communication skills and call out to them, the path may open from there.
4. Summary: Once You Grab It, You Can't Go Back "Wind of Ishigaki"
Windsurfing in Ishigaki Island is the best "experience" you want to taste once in your life.
The exhilaration of running at tens of kilometers per hour on the coral reef, and the sunset, tropical juice, and barbecue after getting out of the sea.
Especially for you who are honing your skills in the harsh environment of the mainland, I want you to taste this "reward" sea.
I am waiting for friends to come by spreading the sail on the beach of Ishigaki Island!
